The Role

Macquarie University Health is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Inpatient Services team on a full-time permanent contract.

You will deliver evidence-based physiotherapy services across a broad range of acute hospital areas, including:

  • ICU and Surgical HDU
  • Orthopaedic services
  • Neurological wards
  • General surgical and medical wards

This role is ideal for graduate and early career physiotherapists looking to further develop their clinical skills within a dynamic hospital setting. The position includes weekday and weekend rostered shifts.

About You

You are a passionate, patient-focused physiotherapist committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment and are eager to contribute to an innovative clinical service.

You will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration (Physiotherapy Board of Australia)
  • Experience (or strong interest) in acute inpatient physiotherapy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary care

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and manage physiotherapy referrals from hospital medical and allied health teams
  • Deliver coordinated, high-quality physiotherapy services aligned with Macquarie University Health’s vision
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health staff to optimise patient outcomes
  • Prepare comprehensive clinical reports for referring practitioners
  • Support teaching, supervision and research initiatives in collaboration with Macquarie University’s Department of Health Professions (Physiotherapy)
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities
  • Promote continuity of physiotherapy care across healthcare settings

  • Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy
  • General registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
